Rosario GIORDANO, Ph.D in History of Africa (Università di Siena and Università di Pavia, 1994), is Full professor of History and Institutions of Africa at the Università della Calabria/UNICAL, Rende (CS - Italy), Department of Humanities/DISU. He is responsible for the History Section of DISU and a member of the teaching board of the International Doctorate of Humanities (UNICAL).
Member of national and international scientific societies, in the period 2017-2018 he was a member of the steering committee of the ’’Association for African Studies in Italy’/ASAI.

2017-2020: Principal Investigator of the projet PRIN-MIUR CONGO JSSXC4 2015; and partner of the projet “Post-Colonial Trauma: A Comparative Study of Return”, dir. by Center for cultural sociology, Yale University, and by Department of Sociologia e ricerca sociale, Università di Trento.
2025-2028: member of the scientific committee and member of the research unit of the Università Statale di Milano of the project "Strengthening African – Italian Museum Partnerships (SAIMP)", promoted by the Italian government (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), which involves three African partner states (Uganda, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo) and is looming as a parallel action within the “Team Europe Initiative Strengthening African – European Museum partnerships”, whose general objective is to “Promote cultural co-creation and intercultural dialogue between the EU and Africa and between African countries, facilitate cooperation aimed at the protection and valorisation of cultural heritage”.
