Marine Science and Data for SDGs


On 4 and 5 June, the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences (RAOS) organized a meeting with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on the theme of Marine Science and Data for SDGs.


The following Chinese CAS institutes send their representatives:

- CAS - UCAS University of Chinese Academy of Sciences
- CAS - IOCAS Institute of Oceanology
- CAS - SCSIO South China Sea Institute of Oceanology
- CAS - IDSSE Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering
- CAS - IOA Institute of Acoustics
- CAS - XIEG Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography


The delegation was led by the vice-president Yaping ZHANG of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. There were contributions from the representatives of the CAS-institutes and from members of different Belgian administrations, universities, and research institutions (including the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences, the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), ...).
An institutional meeting was scheduled for 4 June :
 

Programme (June, 4th)

 

On 5 June a scientific meeting on Marine Sciences and SDGs, open to scientists and the general public, was held. 23 speakers were welcomed in five sessions:


•    Blue Economy 
•    Coastal Ecosystems 
•    Ocean-observing Systems, Ocean Data and Information 
•    Deep Ocean and High Seas 
•    Marine Ecosystem Health 


This meeting took place in Brussels at the Royal Library of Belgium (Mont des Arts 28 - 1000 Brussels).
